RiConnect has upgraded the Data Residency feature of its cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, aimed at improving compliance within supply chains.

The equipment compliance management system connects various stakeholders, facilitating better management of equipment across industries.

The company focuses on digitalising processes to enhance compliance and traceability in equipment management. Data Residency is a critical aspect of this advanced technology, which supports ongoing digital transformation efforts, said the company.

According to RiConnect, clients in sectors such as oil and gas, manufacturing, and energy often face stringent regulatory requirements regarding data storage and handling. These industries necessitate that data be stored in specific geographic locations to comply with local and international regulations. RiConnect claims that it plays a pivotal role in guiding businesses through the complexities of different countries’ data storage laws.

RiConnect said typical users of its services include organisations in demanding sectors or large enterprises that must adhere to strict data sovereignty and compliance standards. The clients prioritise the assurance that their data is stored within designated jurisdictions, in accordance with regional legal frameworks.

The platform also enables efficient access and management of data across various regions, simplifying workflows and minimising the challenges associated with cross-border data handling.

RiConnect sales manager Rob Whitehurst-Maiden said: “In the context of Data Residency, ‘a dedicated environment’, refers to the ability for organisations to choose the geographic location of their data storage, ensuring that their data remains within a specific region. This setup provides more control over data handling and guarantees compliance with local laws, without the broader shared infrastructure often seen in public cloud environments.

“We hear the term, ‘private cloud’, a lot in industry. This describes cloud services hosted on dedicated infrastructure. However, we supersede that by offering Data Residency options rather than managing private cloud services. This allows clients to control where their data is stored and ensures compliance with local regulations.”

RiConnect’s Data Residency feature works in conjunction with its Compliance Management System, which is built on the principles of Compliance, Traceability, Status, and Net Zero, collectively known as CTSN.

This system has gained global acceptance, supported by RiConnect’s subsidiaries in the UK and the US, as well as partnerships in the Middle East, Hong Kong, Iceland, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.
