REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This field position is responsible for assisting the Territory Engineered Modernization Sales Engineers, Service sales, field operations and management resources in any activities necessary to promote the sale and technical project management of complex repairs, retrofits, lifting equipment, modernization and consultation services. In addition, this position is expected to collaborate with Territory Sales resources to advance our customers’ knowledge of Konecranes products and solutions.

  • Support the strategy to advance growth in engineered modernizations business by assisting the sales Engineers all through to the field execution and installation. This includes field project sales support, field project management, installation and sub-contractor management/selection of all modernization projects.
  • Assist in all service-related technical opportunities by providing technical expertise to all field operatives as requested.
  • Work in close cooperation with Project Managers and local operatives.
  • Provide expertise in the development of pre-packaged retro-fits of Konecranes equipment.
  • Communicate and consult with the field organization in the development of specifications for lead generation and conceptual discussions for the advancement of Konecranes products and services.
  • Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of all major project activities using communication, technical expertise and organizational skills to achieve customer satisfaction and the financial goals of the business unit.
  • Review and make recommendations on better application, scope of supply and sales documents prior to submittal to the customer.
  • Assist Konecranes sales team when requested in product introductions and Lunch & Learns to advance lead generation.
  • Project manage and team lead field operatives or subcontractors and supervise major projects and/or activities related to Engineered Modernizations or other projects as required.
  • Assist the local branch resources on proper scope, sales activities, presentations and ultimately project management of Crane Reliability Study (“CRS”) services with responsibility for growth initiatives, management and operational aspects of “CRS” resources and activities (including its separable and individual aspects) within the territory assigned[MP1] .
  • Support in maintenance of all Konecranes specialized tooling and equipment. (Rail Q RoboRail, Rope Q device, et al[MP2] )

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five-years technical expertise in electrical, mechanical and field installations relating to the overhead crane industry required. Must be able to read mechanical and electrical prints, process technical information and provide technical instructions. Must have the aptitude to learn at fast pace. Must have demonstrated leadership experience, well-developed “people” skills, a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles, good written and verbal communication skills and good PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Travel estimated at 60% to meet with customers, sales support or other field duties. Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver’s license. Must be willing and able to work at heights. Must show ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Must be comfortable in a fast pace, growth-oriented environment. Must show commitment to safety.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering is preferred and/or equivalent experience in the crane industry recommending, suggesting, designing and evaluating solutions to customer issues on process equipment.
