Konecranes has rolled out its new D-series electric chain hoist, designed for industries seeking high-performance lifting equipment.

The new D-series electric chain hoist comes with a strong construction, advanced safety features, compact design, and lifting capacities ranging from 80kg to 5,000kg.

With seven frame sizes, the hoist is said to deliver optimal performance in challenging environments, supporting manufacturing and automotive industries and process operations.

The Finnish cranes and lifting equipment firm is producing the new hoist primarily from recyclable metals like steel, aluminium, and cast iron, at its factory in Wetter, Germany, using 100% renewable electricity.

Its modular design facilitates easy maintenance of components, with parts such as gearbox, slipping clutch, and brake being maintenance-free for up to 10 years.

The company intends to initially launch the new D-series electric chain hoist in the EMEA region, with plans for additional release through 2026.

Konecranes EMEA product sales and offer support senior manager Klaus Möllmann said: “The Konecranes D-series reduces downtime with its modular design and low-maintenance components, enabling proactive maintenance that saves time and lowers costs.

“Designed for seamless integration with Konecranes equipment, including KBK workstation lifting systems, jib cranes and overhead cranes, it provides a flexible and efficient solution for a wide range of industrial applications.

“Starting in March 2025, we will also offer pre-configured quick-ship hoists with standard features, pendants and trolleys available directly from stock for fast delivery.”

Konecranes said the new electric chain hoist comes with advanced safety features, including operating limit switches, slipping clutch with speed monitoring and 24V contactor control.

With a wide temperature range, low maintenance, flexible suspension system, and compact design, an electric chain hoist can be quickly and easily installed.

Also, the hoist offers accurate load positioning and controlled lifting for effective operations.

Its ergonomic pendant control ensures smooth and comfortable load-handling and offers a Manulift control unit for single-handed operation of loads up to 500kg.

Konecranes said the control unit allows operators to effectively manage the chain hoist and guide the load with one hand, enhancing load handling efficiency.

Also, the Manulift control unit facilitates both right-hand and left-hand operation and can be customised for various tasks with a range of load handling attachments.

The company is developing the new crane using its Konecranes Design for Environment (DfE) concept, which offers repairability, durability, material selection, and energy efficiency.

Furthermore, Konecranes said the hoist is packaged using fully renewable and recyclable materials.
