Gearmatic, a manufacturer in planetary gear train designs, has launched the GM12A hydraulic planetary hoist for demanding marine and drilling applications.

The GM12A has a rated line pull of 12,000 lb (5,443 kg) and is manufactured with the highest quality materials and attention to detail to meet customer requirements for functionality and serviceability.

The design of the GM12A began with close customer collaboration to identify current pain points and market expectations. The first product to be introduced in the new Gearmatic GM Series, the GM12A can be installed using an industry standard mounting pattern in either an overwound (counterclockwise) or underwound (clockwise) configuration for ultimate versatility.

Equal speed and high speed reverse GM12A models are available to suit multiple applications in the fishing, dredging and drilling markets. Crowned planetary gears ensure efficient performance over a longer service life while reducing noise.

Sintered bronze brake discs are utilized to ensure smooth operation, even after extended storage periods. Additionally, the enhanced brake disc material facilitates superior heat dissipation and high speed reverse performance.

The GM12A is equipped with a standard sight glass to easily check the oil level and an indexable breather vent to provide 360° mounting options. Stainless steel drum seal lands provide outstanding corrosion resistance. The hoist is available with two drum sizes (-01 and -05) which can accommodate up to 225 ft (68.6 m) and 352 ft (107.3 m) of 5/8” (16 mm) rope, respectively.

Overall, the hoist is engineered for fast, simple maintenance and repair, with longer oil life and up to 50% faster service time with no special tools required. Activation at the start of a new season requires less time and effort than other products available on the market. Service parts are readily available, backed by customer support.
