Bayou City Industrial Contractors (BCI) has expanded its pipe fabrication shop in La Porte, Texas, with the installation of two 15-ton overhead cranes as part of a 30,000ft2 facility expansion.
The cranes are designed to support increased production demands by enhancing material handling efficiency, which contributes to higher fabrication capacity within the facility.
Established in 1995 by Jeff Bearden, Bayou City Industrial Contractors provides mechanical and civil construction services to the refining, chemical, and petrochemical industries. The company operates from its headquarters in La Porte, strategically positioned to serve the Gulf Coast region, a key hub for energy infrastructure.
The newly installed cranes are integrated into the structural layout of the expanded shop, which features an additional bay for material segregation, 20 welding stations, and automated welding and profiling equipment. The cranes operate on overhead tracks, enabling the precise movement of large-diameter pipes and heavy industrial components across multiple workstations. This setup reduces manual handling, improves workflow continuity, and optimises load distribution throughout the shop floor.
In a LinkedIn post, Bayou City Industrial Contractors stated: “This cutting-edge facility will not only increase our production capacity but also enhance our ability to deliver the highest quality products to our clients. This investment reflects our commitment to innovation and growth, and we are excited to continue delivering exceptional results to our partners and clients.”
Bayou City Industrial Contractors’ investment in crane infrastructure is part of a broader strategy to scale operations and meet the demands of its industrial clients. The expanded facility supports the company’s focus on increasing production capacity while maintaining operational efficiency across its construction projects in the Gulf Coast region.
