The company, based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and with a location in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Oceanside has been serving customers since 1990 when Greg Maloney started the company as an aquaculture industry distributor. Since then, the company has expanded its services across Canada, serving marine, mining, transportation, and manufacturing end markets.

Oceanside marks Bishop's 14th acquisition since 2012 and is the seventh add-on acquisition since Altamont's investment. Oceanside's Canadian locations alongside its strong private label OCEAN offering supports Bishop's ongoing strategy to become the leading provider of lifting products and services not only in the United States but across North America.

Post-acquisition, Oceanside will keep its branding and its teams, with Greg Maloney, Gary Sullivan, and Vincent Penton continuing in commercial and leadership roles.

"The acquisition of Oceanside marks our first physical locations in Canada and continues our strategy to expand our core solution offerings and footprint to serve customers locally across North America," said Harold King, CEO, Bishop Lifting. "Oceanside has strong customer relationships across Canada, and I am excited to welcome the entire team to the Bishop Lifting family."

"Bishop Lifting is a great home for our employees and a partner to steward the business we have built over 30-plus years," added Maloney. "I look forward to working with Bishop to continue investing in products and distribution to serve our collective customers across North America."

It is an exciting time for Bishop Lifting as it also acquired Bairstow Lifting Products in Atlanta in April, expanding into Georgia.

Bairstow owned by brothers Robert and Andy Bairstow, was founded by their father, Bob Bairstow, in 1960 as a local wire rope fabricating shop. Since then, the company has expanded its offerings and services to become a supplier of rigging products and fall protection solutions.

Robert and Andy Bairstow will assist with the transition following the closing, and Carey Hanson will remain as general manager and continue to run the day-to-day operations.

“The acquisition of Bairstow adds to our footprint in the growing southeast region, and I’m excited to welcome the entire Bairstow team,” said King. “Bairstow has a tremendous reputation with its customers, and we look forward to continuing that great legacy with expanded service and product options.”

“It was important for Andy and me to combine with a company that would be a great fit for our employees and customers,” said Robert Bairstow of Bairstow Lifting. “We feel strongly Bishop is that company and are excited that their continued growth and expansion will provide greater lifting product and service solutions for our customers and opportunities for our employees.”
