The company is a leading trainer of heavy-equipment operators, riggers, signalpersons, inspectors, managers, and others who work with all types of lifting and personnel-handling equipment.
Stutes brings to this newly created position 37 years of experience in business ownership, sales, and management. Some 17 of those years have been in heavy-equipment training operations.
As general manager, Stutes uses his experience in providing consistent operational effectiveness to help Crane Institute of America to continue evolving to meet the growing and changing needs of its customers in the heavy-equipment, lifting, and construction industries.
In that role, Stutes is taking over many of the operational responsibilities now held by CIA founder James Headley, who remains president and chief executive officer.
“I’m excited to join Crane Institute and the respected reputation that it has built over the years,” said Stutes. “I look forward to leading the company as it continues to make training more effective, convenient, and efficient in the coming years.”
Crane Institute founder, president, and CEO, James Headley, said, “I started the company 40 years ago to provide the industry’s best training. Our dedicated and knowledgeable employees have done exactly that. I’ve admired LD’s work in our industry for many years, and I’m excited that he is helping lead Crane Institute strongly into the future.”
Stutes is now also general manager of Crane Institute Certification (CIC), a separate and independent company that is accredited by ANSI to test crane operators and provide certifications that are accepted throughout the United States by OSHA. CIC was also founded by Headley, who remains its president and CEO.
